#29 - 2 ½ Bathrooms!

I’m sure this isn’t a big deal for most of you, but I’ve only ever lived in a house with one bathroom. So for me having 2 ½ is extremely exciting. I’m more than doubling my bathrooms and eventually when we finish the basement I’ll have another! Growing up in a family of 6, I felt like I was always waiting for the bathroom. Even now, I seem to always have to wait for my husband to finish (he’d say the same about me I’m sure). I can take a shower whenever I want to now! If one is occupied, a little walk down the hall is all that is required. Oh, not mention that there will be a bathroom on the first level. My mom, who is no longer with us, would have really thought “I made it” to have a first floor bathroom!!! The only down side, that’s 3 bathrooms to clean. Cleaning the bathroom is my least favorite chore :( But, I think the good outweighs the bad in this situation. It’s the little things in life that make me happy.

  1. LOL....when we were first married we bought a house that only had 1 bathroom and then along came our two daughters. Our current house has 2.5 baths and I too remember thinking how wonderful it was, although there were still times where we were doing the bathroom shuffle. Now that we are back to just my wife and I we will be building our Avalon that will have 5 full bathrooms...go figure!!!

  3. 5 bathrooms, BD? If I had 5 I would certainly be lobbying for a cleaning lady!

  4. I am also very excited about having 2.5 bathrooms + basement rough-ins! I've already assigned my fiance to the upstairs hallway bathroom...it's his to use and it's his to keep clean!
I love your 30-days posts by the way--great idea!

  5. We now have 3 1/2 bathrooms since we did a full bath in the basement. Thankfully we are trying not to really use the basement because I don't want another one to clean but I have a feeling once we have everything set up down there including the media rom we will just use that out of convience. It's a lot of cleaning with just 2 1/2 since I too hate cleaning bathrooms. I have decided that my husband and I will do bathroom duty every other week for the master bath...we will see if he lives up to his end of the bargain. He isn't very good keeping up with cleaning duties but now that we have a bigger house it's a must. With all the additional bills that come with a bigger house we just can't afford to hire someone to come i as much as I would love it!

  8. Lispis, I love that idea! Then we'd each have a bathroom to keep clean. I'd even do the powder room. Now I just have to get my husband to agree. If that doesn't work, Mindi, I think I'll have to steal your cleaning schedule idea - that sounds fair!
India, so excited about the lumber! The picture I took of our lumber is still one of my favorites. It's so cool to think that that giant pile of wood is now our house!
RH, I think we have a mutual friend! I posted something on your blog :)
