Laundry Room

Because I'm a huge procrastinator, I always save laundry for the weekend.  As I carted my baskets down two flights of stairs to the basement this morning, it dawned on me that I only have to do that 4 or 5 more times!  Having the laundry room on the second floor is going to be awesome!  I bet I'll do laundry more often when I don't have to travel down to the dingy basement.  I'm so glad I won that battle with my husband and he agreed to have the laundry room upstairs!  Now if I could only convince him that now would be a good time to buy furniture...

  1. Our laundry room will be on the 2nd floor as well. I'm so excited to be able to just walk down the hall instead of a flight of stairs just to cart everything back upstairs later.

  3. No, not yet. There are so many things on the list of things to buy...those are at the bottom. When either the washer or dryer breaks, we'll get a new set :)

  4. This is the 1 thing that I wish our floorplan had second floor laundry. But having it on the first floor is still better than being in the basement.

I was just researching high efficiency washers and dryers today. There are just too many options available in these things. As of now I narrowed it down to a Whirlpool washer and a Maytag dryer. We're going to wait until the home and garden show in March to purchase our appliances. While we were in an appliance store a representative said they do discounts during the show.

  5. 2nd floor laundry sounds great our plan did not have that option. Since I really enjoy doing laundry this option would have been #1 on my list. Enjoy this should make doing laundry more pleasurable. I guess I will still be UP and DOWN, UP and DOWN :)

  6. Our laundry room is up on the second floor we just have issues trying to find places to hang stuff to dry.... Another thing sort of related we are having a "fix-it" (contractor) come into our house and make our master closet have two rows for hanging instead of one. The issue is the one row for hanging was just not enough....

Something to keep in mind.. We built the Ravena in PA

  7. Tasha, is your's on the first floor or in the basement? I think the first floor is pretty nice too, since that's where you spend most of your time.
Tim, I thought about that. My sister uses a garment rack that she got at Bed Bath and Beyond. I think we're going to do the same. We're also planning on getting a lower bar installed in the clsoet, too.

  8. I am glad you posted pics of the laundry room. We bought new front loading washer/dryer and it looks like the bar is hung too low to put them in with the pedestals. I mentioned it to our PM today and he said he would just leave the shelf in there unhung for us to hang ourselves.
