Cookies and Fixes

Well, we may not have got new furniture as a gift from Ryan like I was dreaming, but our sales reps left some delicious gourmet cookies in our mailbox today!  That was so nice and thoughtful... and a horrible temptation as I'm supposed to start a new regime tomorrow!

So our PM is coming back tomorrow to have a few issues fixed.  We already have a decent list going of things we're noticing - mostly small things.  Tomorrow though they're replacing our bathroom sink counter which has a giant crack in it.  Also, my husband discovered that they covered our floor vent in the master bath with the vinyl flooring!  He cut a slit to let the air out, but they will come to finish it off and put a grate over it.  That was a pretty big oops.  Also, they're going to add some more gravel to our driveway since I scrape bottom when I pull in.  The other issues will wait until our 30 day.

I had to laugh tonight as my husband and I took the garbage out together for pickup.  I'm pretty sure that will be the last time we do that!  Hopefully by next week that will be his job!

Happy Birthday to Lispis from From Knot to Nest!

  1. :) thanks KM!
yikes I can't believe the floor vent being covered wasn't caught by them! Do you have small gravel or is it large? Right now our driveway has pretty big rocks in it and I'm just wondering if that's something that they will replace with smaller rocks over the next week. I don't think my little car can handle all the bulkiness of what's there now!

  2. Maybe gravel wasn't the right word, they are big rocks. My car had a hard time tonight just pulling up the driveway since we got so much rain. I haven't been parking in the garage either. I'm hoping that he builds it up enough for me tomorrow that I'm able to use that garage I've been so eager for!

  3. How did you figure out there was a vent under the floor???? Did they say when your driveway will get paved? Ours won't be paved when we move in either.

  4. Jen, my husband just felt a soft spot on the floor and after not finding a vent, he figured that's what must have happened. I don't know how they missed that one!
It doesn't look like our driveway will be paved until late April/early May. I've only lived there for 5 days, and it is already a huge pain not having it paved. I'm hoping that if it stays warm maybe they'll be able to do it sooner.

  5. KM,

We will be in the same boat! just read Venice Evolutions comments about driveway being paved to soon. We just gotta suck it up. I surely don't want to be dealing with a brand new drive way with imperfections.

  6. Oh... how was your experience with South Hill Movers. Have a few companies coming in the next week or two to give us a quote.

  8. Jefferson, you're right. I'd rather just deal with it than have poor quality driveway were on the. South Hills movers was the most expensive of all the movers we talked with. We went with George. They did a fantastic job! They didn't damage anything and actually got the work done in less time than was estimated. I wasn't here for the move, but my husband was very impressed. They were also one of the higher estimates, but we really felt comfortable with them.

India, I'll post some pictures this weekend. It's not really looking all that great yet. We still need to paint and get some new furniture, but I promise this weekend I'll show you what we've got so far.

  9. KM,

Just met with Tyler from George's he seem to be knowledgeable. And, the quote that he gave us I believe is fair. Is he the same guy who gave you all a quote. Anyway, I'm ready to be done with this move crap all ready. I just wanna be in my new house. :)

  10. Jefferson, it will be here before you know it. We actually had Ben not Tyler, but he was very knowledgeable as well. I highly recommend them. Did you happen to get a quote from Don Farr? Their salesman was horrible!

  11. Hi k m!

Congrats on your home! We've never posted on your blog before but have enjoyed watching your journey. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this blog! We've gotten so much good advice and help from reading it. We are building in the same neighborhood as you (we can tell from the pics!) and will be breaking ground this coming week! We hope to meet you all in person sometime this summer!

  12. Thanks, EMK and congratulations on your new home! I'm glad you found my blog and so excited that you'll be living in my neighborhood! Are you building on the main road or on the culdesac road? Which model are you building? I can't believe how quickly the neighborhood is being built. I hope you have a smooth process. Is Jeremy your project manager? He was great. I look forward to meeting you. I guess you already know where I live! Good luck!

  13. We're building a Milan on the cul-de-sac street. So, just up from where you are. Your house is so nice, by the way! I love the brick and colors you picked. We were up there over the weekend and just can't believe the progress. It's amazing how fast those guys work!! They will start the digging for our house on Tuesday, and yes, Jeremy is our pm too. He seems like a great guy. Can't wait to get started! We're looking forward to meeting you guys and the other neighbors as well! :)
