#24, a Pleasant Surprise, and Better Shots of Butter Rum

Since today began a new month I had to change the calendar in my classroom.  As I was putting the dates up along with the special holiday cards, I realized that February has lots of special days.  Ground hog's Day, Valentines Day (if you consider that special), President's Day (for me that's a four day weekend!), Pre-Settlement Day, Settlement  Day and MOVING DAY!  Too bad I didn't have special cards to highlight those special days!

#24 - 4 Bedrooms
Not that we're going to have much use for them right away, but I'm so looking forward to having four bedrooms!  We'll use the small bedroom as an office until we finish the basement.  That leaves us with two unused rooms.  Hopefully, in the not too distant future, we'll use one as a nursery.  But for now it will be empty along with the other bedroom.  I don't know what to do with them and I want to make sure they don't become storage rooms.  But I also don't want to spend money furnishing them, so it will be interesting to see what they become.  For now I'll just enjoy the extra space.  I've never had the problem of having too much space before, so this will be a welcome problem to have.

On another note, I'm sure my husband is taking great pleasure in my admission that I was wrong about the floors. Ever since we decided to just get vinyl floors and put the hardwood floors in ourselves in the next year or so, I let it be known, pretty much daily, how much I was going to hate the vinyl floors. I was wrong. Do I love them? No. But they are much better than what I was expecting. I don't hate them and I may even be willing to keep them a little longer and rearrange the priority list of things to do/buy. So after my overreaction to the pantry shelves (thanks for setting me straight ladies) I thought I'd post about a happy surprise :)
It was still covered up, but I took a sneak peak.  The first picture is the downstairs bathroom.  The second and third are in the kitchen.

And finally, for all of my butter rum friends, here are a few more shots - although they are VERY dusty!

  2. I think we chose the same counter tops and the same flooring. Is the flooring the vinyl that looks like tile? I really wanted wood and tile, but since my husband put tile in our last home, we figured he could add it in a couple of years. Your kitchen looks great.

  3. Love the cabinets with the butter rum! I'm so excited to see ours get to that stage! Do you know what flooring that is? I just looked ours up and we are getting Initiator 66180...I can't remember exactly what it looks like but I think it's similar to what you have. Looking good!

  5. Lispis, our kitchen color is 66177 and the foyer and bath is 66178. So yours is probably just a little darker. I think it looks pretty good. It looks like real tile!
    Welcome, CR!

  6. We put the laminate floors (looks like the same color) in our mudroom and laundry room and I was pleasantly suprised about how nice it looked too. Laminate has come along way and the plus side is that it isn't cold like tile in the winter. You also won't need to worry about cleaning in between all the grout and sealing the grout (when you first move in).
